Stuck with the same nagging injury? Let's change that.
You've rested it. You've stretched it. You've iced it, foam rolled it, and maybe even "worked through it." And yet that heel, elbow, shoulder, or knee keeps coming back to say hello. Sound familiar?
That's exactly where shockwave therapy comes in. It's one of our favorite tools for stubborn, chronic soft tissue injuries that haven't responded the way you'd hoped.
What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses radial acoustic waves delivered through the skin to the injured tissue. Those waves help stimulate blood flow and kick-start your body's natural healing process in areas that have gotten "stuck." It's non-invasive, there's no downtime, and sessions are quick, usually about 10 to 15 minutes.
What can it help with?
Shockwave is commonly used for chronic tendon and soft tissue issues like:
- Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
- Shoulder tendinopathy and rotator cuff irritation
- Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee)
- Hip and glute tendon pain
- Stubborn muscle tension and trigger points
Not sure if your issue is a good fit? That's what your first visit is for. We'll assess you, talk through your goals, and let you know honestly whether shockwave makes sense for you.
Why shockwave at Anchor Chiro is different
Shockwave works great on its own, but we rarely use it on its own. As an ART-certified chiropractor, Dr. Kate pairs shockwave with Active Release Technique, joint adjustments, and targeted movement work to address the whole picture, not just the sore spot. Each visit is tailored to how you're feeling that day, and we use Kinetisense motion capture to see how you move so we can find what's really driving the problem.
What to expect
- It's quick. Most shockwave treatments take 10 to 15 minutes.
- It's tolerable. You'll feel a strong tapping sensation. We adjust the intensity to keep you comfortable.
- No downtime. Most people head right back to work or their day. Some mild soreness afterward is normal.
- It's a series. Shockwave works best over several sessions, typically spaced about a week apart.
